If you are visiting us for the first time, you might wonder why we call ourselves a “Reformed” church.
To be Reformed means that we seek to live according to God’s Word. We emphasize God’s grace in our salvation, the authority of the Bible, and the lordship of Jesus over all of life.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority over what we believe.

2 Timothy 3:16–17"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
Salvation is God's gift, not something we can earn.
Salvation is a free gift of God's love. We cannot earn his love by our own good deeds; it is a gift of God's grace.
Ephesians 2:8–9"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
We receive God's gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
We receive God's gift of salvation by trusting in Jesus Christ alone. Faith embraces Christ, makes him our own, and does not seek anything beside him.
Romans 3:28"For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law."
Jesus Christ is our only mediator and the only way of salvation.
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. Our entire salvation rests on his perfect sacrifice on the cross.
Acts 4:12"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
God deserves all the praise for our salvation. It is all by grace; it is all for his glory.

Romans 11:36"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen."
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God which teaches all that we must believe in order to be saved (2 Tim 3:16–17). The Bible was not “produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Pet 1:21).”
We believe there is only one God, and we trust in him alone (Deut 6:4; 1 Cor 8:4–6). We believe this God is one being, yet three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt 3:16–17; Matt 28:19).
God the Father is the creator of all things visible and invisible (Gen 1:1–2; Heb 11:3), and he still upholds them by his power (Matt 10:29).
God the Son is our redeemer. As the eternal Son of God, he took upon himself true human nature so he might die for us as a sacrifice for our salvation (Matt 1:18–23; Gal 4:4). We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is both true God and true man. (John 1:1; Col 2:9)
God the Holy Spirit works faith in us by the preaching of the gospel (1 Cor 2:10–14; Rom 10:7), and he dwells in all those who believe (John 14:16–17).
We believe God created us good and in his image so that we would know him, love him, and live with him forever (Gen 1:26–27).
We believe that humanity chose to turn away from God so that we are all conceived and born in the sin which we have inherited from our first parents, Adam and Eve (Rom 3:10–11; Rom 5:12–14). Sin separates us from God, subjects us to death, and makes us all worthy of his judgement (Rom 3:23; Rom 6:23).
We believe that God did not turn his back on the world, but sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, who took the form of a servant and was born in the likeness of men (Phil 2:7). God gave his Son out of perfect love to die for us on the cross, and so Jesus took the punishment our sins deserved (2 Cor 5:21).
After three days, Jesus rose again from the dead and conquered death so that all who believe receive eternal life (1 Cor 15:55–57).
We believe that all who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ will be saved (Mark 1:15; Acts 16:31). We believe the Holy Spirit works this repentance and faith in our hearts (1 Cor 2:14).
We believe that Jesus Christ gathers, defends and preserves his church, which is the gathering of believers who expect their entire salvation in him, are washed by his blood, and are sanctified by his Holy Spirit (Eph 1:9–10; Rev 1:5; 1 Cor 6:11).
We believe that God commands his church to baptize believers and their children. Baptism is a sign and seal of God’s promises, pointing us to the washing away of our sins through Christ’s blood and Spirit. (Acts 2:39; Acts 16:15; Col 2:11–12)
We believe the Lord's Supper is a means to strengthen our faith and remind us of Christ's sacrifice on the cross (1 Cor 11:23–25). As we eat the bread and drink from the cup, we receive Christ's true body and blood into our souls by faith (Eph 3:17).
We believe that Christ will return to judge the living and the dead (Rev 1:7; Matt 25:31–34). The wicked will be rightly convicted of their sin and cast into eternal fire while the faithful will be crowned with glory (Matt 25:41; Rev 21:8). God will bring an end to sin and death, he will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and he will make all things new (Rev 21:5).
The Bible is our ultimate authority for what we believe, yet Christians can disagree about what the Bible teaches. We do not want to confuse anyone about what we believe. That’s why we publicly confess our faith using historic creeds and confessions. They do not replace or equal God’s Word, but they faithfully summarize it.
Our creeds connect us with Christians throughout history, our confessions provide transparency about what we believe Scripture teaches, and our relationships with other churches provide accountability and encouragement.
A creed is a concise statement of faith. It comes from the Latin word “credo,” which means “I believe.”
Our church confesses the same foundational truths about God and Jesus Christ that Christians have confessed for thousands of years. They are expressed in these ancient creeds:
We need not figure out the Christian faith on our own. Reformed churches use written summaries of biblical teaching, called “confessions” to maintain unity and hold each other accountable to God’s Word.
Our church holds to the following confessions:
We believe that every local church is governed by its own elders under the authority of Jesus Christ alone.
But churches are not meant to exist as islands. Ambassador enjoys the fellowship of a federation of churches around Canada to visibly express the unity of the church, to encourage and support one another, and to provide accountability and ensure we remain faithful to the Word of God.
